Muting/turning the synthesizer in jaws off?

Hello all.
Is there any way to run jaws with the synthesizer off? I have a braille display, and find the speech annoying. It's especially annoying when I'm trying to read information on the computer and talk on skype at the same time. I know there is a way to easily accomplish this within Window Eyes, but is there a way to do this with Jaws?

Thanks in advance for any help,
Scott

Go in to Jaws. In the menu, soelect languages, then select voice profiles if you're using Jaws 10, following no speech. In earlier versions of Jaws, the no speech option is in the language menu.

You're welcome. I teach visually impaired people how to do tasks like that.

Very cool, I've been wondering how to do this too, for the same reasons.

To do it on the fly control insert S jaws 10 and later and select no speech. In 11 you'll be able to set up no speech profiles for specific applications in case their are apps you'd rather run all the time without speech.

A much quicker way to do this. Thanks BDD! I'm not sure how much I'd use the specific application settings feature, but it's nice to have. I'd probably set something like that up for Skype, but not sure.
